PASSTELL

About this project

Goals

passtell has emerged with the goal of simplifying local password management on Unix-type systems. It achieves this through shell scripts that work with text streams and employ the correct tools to manipulate files, all while incorporating age-based encryption for added security.

Why 'passtell'?

'passtell' is a playful fusion of two English words, 'pass' (derived from 'passwords') and 'tell'. The amalgamation of these terms creates a word that shares a resemblance to another word in Portuguese: 'Pastel'. As a Brazilian project, passtell refers to the Pastel is the most popular street food on Brazil, a fried pastry which can be filled with various fillings (and are simply good).

Design

passtell's logo subtly references pastel food in a minimalist style that complements the application's simplicity. The project's colors, including those of the logo and website, draw inspiration from the Gruvbox color palette. This choice aims to enhance contrast and create a visually pleasing identity.

Licenses

The GPLv3 license was chosen so that everyone has the freedom to run, study, modify the code and distribute a program based on passstell under the same terms. The project website is licensed under Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International as well as the images and icons, guaranteeing copyleft rights on the website as well.
